Learning outcomes
Students will learn how to (a) autonomously and independently engage with research on top
management teams and boards of directors, (b) present the results of their literature review,
(c) understand the complexity of top level decision making, and (d) make decisions with limited
information and under time pressure. All of these skills are important skills for future careers in
business, consulting, academia or any other job in an organization or self-employment.
Examination
Students will submit slides with additional notes, present their topics individually and demonstrate
their excellent grasp of an allocated topic within the course (15 min per student). The final session
will entail a top management team case study in which students will take on the role of a C-tier
executive and collaborate in groups of four students to analyze and create an effective strategy to
deal with the case. In the afternoon, they will present their findings and pitch their team's strategy
to solve the business case. Additionally, they will write a 2-3 page report on their own personal
experience with 2-3 topics from the course, what they learnt in the course, and how to deal with
similar issues differently in the future.
The final grade will consist of 40% individual presentation and active engagement during the
course, 40% group work and presentation, and 20% individual written reflection.
