This course explores how artificial intelligence transforms industries, work, leadership, and
business processes. Students gain scientific insights into the impact of AI on occupations,
employee and leadership tasks, and on process analysis and automation. The course combines
scientific foundations with practical examples and hands-on practitioner projects. Through
workshops and group work, students learn how to critically assess, design, and govern AI-enabled
work, leadership, and process solutions in organizational contexts.
Learning outcomes
After successfully completing this course, students will be able to:
Analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on industries, occupations, and employee tasks,
identifying opportunities and challenges for organizations.
Evaluate the implications of AI on leadership roles, managerial decision-making, and
organizational governance.
Apply concepts of process mining and AI-enabled process automation to improve business
processes and create value.
Design AI-supported workflows, human–AI collaboration models, and automation strategies that
align with business objectives.
Assess ethical, social, and governance issues related to AI in organizational contexts, including
trust, accountability, and transparency.
Implement practical solutions using AI agents and agentic AI in organizational scenarios, including
process and task automation.
Communicate insights and recommendations from AI-driven analyses effectively to managerial and
stakeholder audiences.
Critically reflect on the opportunities, risks, and limitations of AI in transforming work, leadership,
and processes.
Examination
The seminar places a strong emphasis on hands-on workshop formats and enables students
to actively explore how AI technologies can be used to automate, optimize, and redesign
organizational processes. Working in teams, students apply concepts and tools to a practical
use case, bridging theory and real-world business challenges. Students are required to hold a
presentation (15 min) (30% of grade) and hand-in the documentation of their project results (70 %
of grade).

Teaching & learning methods
The seminar will encompass individual and group work and hands-on workshops. Learning
methods will include identifying business problems and develop solutions hands-on. The seminar
will also include guided self-learning.
